Our office’s managing partner, Dr. Emese Júlia Simon, attorney (HU) and data protection officer, graduated in 2007 at Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, Faculty of Law and Political Science, with a summa cum laude degree. She has been admitted by the Budapest Bar Association as an attorney since 2012. After graduating, between 2008 and 2014, Emese worked for Noerr & Partners Office, first as a trainee, then as an associate partner. Since 2014, she has been a founding member and partner of Jókay & Partners Law Office, later BDO Legal Jókay Law Office. Since 2023, Emese has been building her own law firm, where the firm’s team typically advises mid- to large-sized corporate clients to international law firm standards, with the help of cooperating, expert lawyers.
Our main area of expertise is labor law. We have extensive experience in employment contract reviews, labor law issues arising in the course of day-to-day operations, employer successions, collective redundancies, and lawsuits related to termination of employment and executive liability. Our managing partner is credited with winning a Hungarian lawsuit for damages with one of the highest value against a senior official.
In connection with the GDPR, we have conducted a number of data protection compliance and suitability audits at Hungarian and multinational companies and municipalities. Due to her significant theoretical and practical expertise in data protection, Emese holds the position of Data Protection Officer in several companies, while in other cases she provides ongoing legal support to companies in ongoing procedures.
We have significant experience in the field of company law, where we specialize in providing legal advice in company formations, restructuring, M&A and various transactions. We represent both buyers and sellers in classic real estate transactions.
